Focus of the Final Paper

Is the utilization of various military forces an effective allocation of a state’s resources? Based upon our readings and discussions, as well as additional outside sources, you will address this daunting question and provide support for your opinion. Address the following to complete this assignment:

1. Examine how adept military organizations are at keeping peace, and describe the criteria for maintaining peace in a region of conflict.
2. Discuss the inherent difficulties in conducting peace operations. 
   3. Discuss whether or not private companies can be utilized instead of or in conjunction with military forces in maintaining peace.
   4. Examine the role cultural and societal differences play in peace operations and discuss if and how these differences can be overcome.
   5. Discuss if and how humanitarian missions pose the same difficulties as peacekeeping operations.
   6. Assess humanitarian and peacekeeping operations as conducted by military forces and discuss whether they
      should be abandoned altogether or if they are effective and why.

   For this Final Paper you need to do research in peer-reviewed journals or other sources that are considered to have reliable information. In addition to your required course text, you need at least six professional, scholarly sources, three of which must be peer reviewed journal articles found in the Ashford University Library.
